Hi, folks!
This is my very first posting of 2010 but many more will follow - I can assure you of that!
According to the United Nations Observances, 2010-2020 will be the International Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification whereas 2010 alone is the International Year of Youth: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding; International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures and International Year of Biodiversity.
Though still in the first days of a New Year and of a new decade (?), in 2010 we have already celebrated World Day of Peace on 1st January and this year's message sent by Pope Benedict XVI was "If you want to cultivate Peace, protect Creation".
At Martinho Árias we also decided to mark the beginning of a new year with a lunch - on the one hand, to meet some of the teachers who belong to our school but are never there...and on the other hand, to celebrate Andy's return.
So... we had a nice vegetarian lunch, strolled a bit along Mondego's green park and then sat to drink coffee.
It was a very pleasant day - sunny but cold - and the group was fantastic.
When and where is the next meeting point ???
About Me
- Teacher Alex
- Portugal
- I am from Coimbra, Portugal, and am currently teaching in a school in Soure, about 30 km away from Coimbra. I have been a teacher of English for over 20 years and have already taught different levels and age groups. After all this time I can say I love working with adult groups because there are no coursebooks and I can create my own resources. I am an avid reader, a blogger and very curious about free tools and their implementation in the classroom.
