I am from Coimbra, Portugal, and am currently teaching in a school in Soure, about 30 km away from Coimbra. I have been a teacher of English for over 20 years and have already taught different levels and age groups. After all this time I can say I love working with adult groups because there are no coursebooks and I can create my own resources. I am an avid reader, a blogger and very curious about free tools and their implementation in the classroom.

Hurrah: a 7-0 victory

After an emotional farewell to José Saramago (whose ashes, after all, will remain in Lisbon...), Portugal has a reason to cheer up.
Though I'm not much of a football fan, I have to admit that I was quite relieved when Portugal started scoring and we could celebrate a 7-0 victory over North Korea. I was really hopeful but ... never expected such an expressive advantage! Again, here as in South Africa, Portugal fans noisily celebrated the result and how??? Blowing vuvuzelas...
Have a look now at a very interesting infograph I came across today at

Congratulations on your results! really impressive! :-)
Unfortunately, Italy, the best football team in the world( at least 4 years ago)is not doing well.
I'll keep the fingers crossed for Thursday!
All the best

Finally, thanks for the compliment, LN! Always attentive and supportive :=)

congratulations...but at the moment we, the Italians, are a bit sad about the results of our team and at the same time furious with these footballers who are so well paid (too well) and who played worse than ever....
your blog is always great Alex!!
hugs,
Simo

I'm sorry about the Italian team but quite proud of the Portuguese in spite of yesterday's goalless draw with Brazil. Let's wait and see till Tuesday...
