About Me

My photo
Portugal
I am from Coimbra, Portugal, and am currently teaching in a school in Soure, about 30 km away from Coimbra. I have been a teacher of English for over 20 years and have already taught different levels and age groups. After all this time I can say I love working with adult groups because there are no coursebooks and I can create my own resources. I am an avid reader, a blogger and very curious about free tools and their implementation in the classroom.

Expolingua

Hi, there!
As I said in my last post, off we went to Lisbon on the fifth March to visit Expolingua, to participate in a theatre performance and for a German class that Goethe Institut - Lissabon had prepared for our ninth graders. As for the adults, they went to Museu da Presidência in the afternoon.
After having read your comments and listened to both youngsters and adults, I was pleased to know that all that a nice time. It is not easy to plan activities /school trips that involve foreign languages... anyway, you enjoyed it, laughed, learned something and, yes, the truth must be said loud and clear: you were very well-behaved students. What else could I possibly want???
One thing I promise you all: I read your suggestions and will certainly take them into account. Sooner or later, other activities will come up and you will be invited to join in!
As for the questionnaires on Expolingua... there are prizes for the winners and they are:

9ºA - Catarina Rolo + João Tiago Fernandes
9ºB - Joana Gonçalves
9ºC - Joana Matias
9ºE - Mariana Silva

I wouldn't like to finish though without a "thank you" word to all the teachers who took part in this activity.
Keep on the good work!!!

Expolingua

YES!
On the 5th March we are heading to Lisbon to visit Expolingua Portugal which has promoted, since 1989, the importance of language study and multicultural knowledge.
Alongside the Fair, that gathers exhibitors from different educational and cultural entities, there will be a Cultural Programme featuring theatre ("THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE" by INTERACTING), cinema, conferences and workshops. Expolingua attracts annually thousands of visitors who attend the event looking for the most recent developments in all areas connected to language teaching. Admittance is free.

So, besides the theatre performance there are some other activities prepared for you (teens and adults as well). Be ready!!!
